BIO OF MAX STEVENSON
Max Stevenson has appeared in France, Italia, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Middle East, Oman Sultanat, Tropical Islands Resort Berlin, Disney Village Paris, Disneyland Resort Paris, Disney's Newport Bay Club Hôtel, Grand Mistral cruise ship, Msc Fantasia cruise ship… He was invited for special performances, met Michael Jackson at the Rex Club in Paris, Nicolas Sarkozy French President in Nanterre or Cardinal Biffi in Bologna.
Max Stevenson won first place at the UFS in Muscat and The MOE certificate offered by Bresilian gouvernement for his Bahia project « Magic for a better life ». To top it all off, he appears on stages performing every three years a brand new illusions show.
13 years of stage performances and appearances all over the world attest to his notoriety.
INTERVIEW WITH MAX STEVENSON / NRJ 62 / Sophie Taydu.
- 1. How did you get started in magic ?
- Things happened little by little. My parents were living in France. I was a real "Harry Potter" inside of this impressive house. We had always wonderfull Christmas celebrations and giant Christmas trees. One day, I received a Christmas gift… It was a Magic book called « How to become a Magician » by Patrick Page. I learned how to make disappear a silk, how to cut a cord in 2 parts or how to perform a very simple card trick… And other little magic tricks. It was Christmas, I was 7 years old and i will always remember this day because Magic entered in my life and my life became magic. Then i spent the next 7 years watching Tv Specials with Gilles Arthur, buying magic books, learning more and more secrets. My admiration went to Channing Pollock's, Otto Wessely, Yogano, Alpha, Norm Nielsen. Later I met and i worked as assistant for Pierre Brahma, 2 x FISM World Champion of Magic. Then you learn by yourself that the most important is to know your valour and believe in yourself. I began to perform 13 years ago and i made my dreams come true becoming a professional magician.
- 2. How long have you been performing magic ?
- A very long time now… More than 13 years of Magic.
- 3. What is your favorite illusion ?
- I have many favorite illusions. The levitation is a favorite from the history of magic. Favorites that I perform would be the Blades of Doom, J.Turbine illusion, Helicopter Appearance.
- 4. What is the hardest magical thing you’ve ever done ?
- To make a journalist disappear… Seriously, Magic in general is not easy at all. Creating wonder and something that people can emotionally connect to is very difficult. Years ago I presented an escape suspended at 12 meters! There is always a degree of the unknown involved in an escape. Things can go wrong and… Believe me or not but you have always to be ready for that. Escapes can be very physical and potentially dangerous as well.
- 5. Who are your inspirations ?
- Well, First, life. Life becomes really magical if you open your eyes. The beauty of a flower, a bird, simple things… Life brings magic, you just need to see it. That' s the perception… Like the magic to love truely someone. Nothing is more beautiful. Nature and life are magic by themselves. This combinaison of beauty and mystery : This is Magic. Concerning my magical inspiration, I consider Siegfried and Roy like living legends. Twelves years ago and for the first time i met Yogano. He gave me so much advices ! His creativity is amazing ! He worked for Siegfried and Roy in LasVegas creating levitations effects. Other inspirations would include Pierre Brahma for his elegance, Otto Wesselly for his originality, Norm Nielsen for his romantism, Channing Pollock's for his class, Alpha for his creativity. One of my greatest moment was to meet Michael Jackson at the Rex Club after he went to Disneyland Resort Paris. I offered him two very classic and popular magic tricks called « The Linking Rings » and « Rose to Silk ». We spent 10 or 12 minutes in the corridor and the day after i have been invited by Brad Chilvers and Nick Garris to join him in his hotel ! Michael wanted to learn how to perform correctly for his children these two little magic tricks. This was a magical moment.
- 6. Can you make my husband disappear ?
- Well… Not at the moment, sorry. Usually people ask me to make disappear mothers in law…
- 7. Besides performing, what do you enjoy doing ?
- Right now performing my magic shows is a really big part of my life. I also love travelling. In addition, I also enjoy writing and I am working on my own magic book and box. But basically anything where I can be creative is something I enjoy doing.
